About the event
On Saturday 19th September, Evesham Vale of Tales will present a FREE event for children and families as part of Evesham Veg Fest providing everyone in the community with the chance to meet special guest Joseph Coelho, enjoy a fun interactive performance by poet Kate Wakeling and also, to find out more about Reading2Smile, an initiative enabling children and parents to become published book reviewers.
Books Up North will invite local reviewers to join its panel of enthusiastic readers by giving away free books in exchange for a promise that an honest review will be sent after reading.

11am - 12pmCome along and join former Children's Laureate Joseph Coelho for an interactive and fun event, celebrating his new book, Rapunzel is a Lettuce.
Suitable for all children aged 5-11.
Reading 2 Smile
12:15pm - 12:45pmSarah Tyson from Books Up North will introduce Reading 2 Smile, an opportunity for children aged 2-17 years, enabling them to grow to become confident, adventurous readers who will take pride in seeing their ideas published online.

1pm - 2pmKate Wakeling will deliver a playful, interactive poetry and art session for young children, introducing her new illustrated poetry collection The Flying Machine of Dreams.

Sarah Tyson, founder of Books Up North, is a key partner working with Evesham Vale of Tales. She is a reading ambassador and experienced literary consultant and events producer who has worked for over a decade promoting reading for pleasure in communities, public libraries, schools and bookshops. Following an initiative started in lockdown, Sarah developed Reading2Smile.com a free to access, inclusive web-based reading tool to enable children to search for a book they’ll enjoy reading based on reviews they can trust and relate to, because it was written by a child their age, without any agenda or bias.
